Painter, cartoonist, writer and film-maker. He joined the D Group, then stood close to the socially realist line of the Yeniler Group. After years of internal exile for political reasons he spent the second half of his life in Paris. The question 'Can you paint happiness?', through Nâzım Hikmet's line, tied his name to literature as much as to art.
