Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu

1911–1975 · Turkish

Other spellings: Bedri Rahmi

Painter and poet. He worked with André Lhote in Paris, joined the D Group, and taught generations of students at the Academy. He brought the motifs of Anatolian folk art — kilim, printed cloth, pottery — into the language of modern painting. His mosaics and murals read alongside his poems as two faces of a single body of work.
